Im looking for a less expensive alterative motor swap. I would just like to know what kind of reliability and performance or any info or input about the
d17 motor you guys have on here.

 

The D17 is one of the worst choices if performance is a concern; they don't respond well to bolt-ons and they barely respond to forced induction. Your best bet (on a budget) would be to swap in a D16Z6 and boost it. If the turbo setup is well thought out, reliability should be non-issue.
