+1 on tires, and don't forget to rotate.

The only reason I asked the question to begin with is that I've never had this problem before with any vehicle I've driven. I completely realize that the less tread the tires have the greater chance of this happening. I just thought it might also be related to how light the car is. I've driven some of my vehicles with near bald tires and never had this type of problem this severe. Thanks for the input though.

It may have something to do with the weight on top of bad tires.

I have good winter tires and I still spun a lot even at about 20 mph because the car is so light. So its probably a mixture of both.

Winter tires are made of a softer compound, are typically narrower, and have big blocky tread, so they're easier to spin, even if the road is dry.

They were all around tires. But I meant they were my winter wheels.

buy a set of good brand new tires and that should solve the prob! Weight has nothing to do with it.

Definitely go get yourself some tires with rain treads on them. They're built to channel water away from the tire, and improve wet road performance dramatically.

I say part of it is definitely weight, cuz I have driven an SUV with literally 1/32" of tread and the tires didnt spin out under acceleration (it made turns even more nerve racking than usual for a top heavy SUV tho ). But when I bought my civic it came with some Futura GLS Supersports (or something like that), and whenever it rained, even lightly, I could smoke my tires like a ****. Needless to say I got tired of poor wet traction and as soon as I spun my car 270 degrees turning on a sharp highway off-ramp in the rain (one of my scariest/funnest driving experiences, sounds like an oxymoron I know lol) I got some Kumhos from tirerack. Now even if I launch at like 3000-4000rpm they just chirp real quick then regain traction
