I just got a new engine from a warehouse it only costed me 100 dollers because it was blowing smoke, lots of smoke before. I only bought this one for the intake manifold and other parts, but on the way home I was thinking... Currently I have a SOHC ZC engine in my 1991 Honda civic I bought a DOHC ZC for 100, what do I need to do to switch the heads on the engines, put the DOHC head on the SOHC block, I think the blocks are the same?? If its not possible or not worth it.. I would be buying a 92-95 DOHC ZC because its cheeper than the 88-91 DOHC, but would it fit??

If it was smoking all that much, the head might need a rebuilt...

 

YOU CAN'T OUT A DOHC HEAD ON A SOHC BLOCK!!!!! END OF STORY....


....well, I have heard that there is one person that did it, but there was major major major modification done to the block.

 

I thought the blocks were the exact same?? Only just the head was different.

 

actually, the ZC is the ONLY engine where you CAN do that!

 

You are partly correct, you can do it on the F series engines in the accord with a h22 head. But it is a direct bolt on just buy a timing belt for like a 88 integra

 

Well this is good news then, so I guess there is more agreement... So I can swap the DOHC ZC head onto my current SOHC head and just swap the timing belt as well? I think I would need a new distributer as well and the extra wiring for the second cam. I dunno am I right?
