Default Engine life.

Will blocking of the idle air control valve shorten the life of my engine. Idle's fine drives fine got rid of sputtering before car would eat gas idle would repeat up to 3000rpms drop. Dont have a enough cashflow right now to buy a new one.

cel = check engine light.

if gas is coming outta the exhaust that means it isnt burning it and you need to check your spark,

First, get the CEL working (it should turn on for 2 seconds every time you turn the key on but don't start) and then use it to check for any ECU trouble codes.

not really in my opinion, but your fuel consumption on your car might go down the drain, pretty easy to take off and clean by yourself, it's not in the most difficult place to access.

Clean your FITV also and readjust it too. Has your motor been timed properly?

Also too while it may not damage the engine, if your car is running too rich you run the risk of ruining your catalytic converter, which down the line will cuase problems with your engine (i know, had a cat blow out and caused too much backpressure made driving the car a nightmare)
