Default experienced advice needed

I completely restored a 1978 Civic hatchback CVCC which included blueprinting the engine! However, even at that age and virtually zero blue-book value, it was stolen! That will teach me not to put a GPS tracking system and alarm on something that old!

What I need help with is that I am slowly assessing what I wish to replace my 78 with. My criteria are: 1. Very high gas milage, 2. Ease of maintenance & repair. 3. Reliability, 4. Long life expectancy

TENATIVELY, I have been looking at the 1987-91 CRX-HF. My principle concern is how much harder is it to restore a newer vehicle of this model than it is for an older one like my 78 Civic, particularly in light of the newer electrical systems, ECU and related control systems.

Any input on problems I have not mentioned as well as any comments on my criteria mentioned above would be greatly appreciated.
