Well the tie rods do go under the car. The strut bars go in the engine bay and trunk.

WHOA. Let's clear something up. There is a HUGE difference between a a tie-rod and a strut tie-bar.

- A tie-ROD is part of the steering linkage on a vehicle. It typically ties the steering knuckles from either side together.
- A tie-BAR is a stiffening device. It typically ties flexing points (where flex is undesirable) from either side of the chassis together.

An anti-swaybar, tie-bar, H-brace, and strut-tower brace can all be used on the same vehicle simultaneously.

- Anti-swaybars reduce bodyroll, and help the vehicle corner flatter. There can be a front and rear bar used for maximum anti-sway and adjustability.
- An H-brace, tower brace, and tie-bar work in similar fashion to each other. They stiffen up the chassis to make for firmer and more predictable handling, leaving the suspension alone to move. 3pt and 4pt braces typically offer more stiffening than 2pt bars.

Ok anti roll bars are underneath the car in both front and rear. These work with the suspension to decrease body roll when goin around a corner. They will flex a little in hard cornering. Whereas strut bars tie into the suspension to add stiffness to the body. So they both reduce body roll just in different ways and different places. You should look in to getting front and rear anti roll bars and maybe a front strut bar. Im not putting a rear strut in my car cause it takes up trunk space. All these things are extremely helpful when it come to the cars handling. But bigger is not always better. So dont go out and buy the thickest bars you can find. What kind of Civic do you have and post some pictures if you can.
