Default Fuel Filling Sensor Problem

I have a 2002 Civic LX. For the third time at 51K miles, the fuel guage has become stuck on "full". I cannot put fuel into the tank once this happens. In two previous incidents I had the fuel sending unit replaced (once at 26K miles and the second time at 40K miles). The same thing has happened again.

The local Reno Honda dealer has been helpful, but as of seven days with the Civic, has been unable to come up with an explanation/fix on what chronic problem has happened.

I would greatly appreciate any comments on this issue.

Thanks to any respondents.

just my two cents

but if it is a fuel sensor have they try to just change the sensor tosee if it works. A different approach would be to just disconnect the sensor

hmmm, was there anything that could have caused the sensor to break in the first place? like driving off with the gas hose still in your car?
