Default Gas Mileage - WOW!!!!!

I have owned my 2000 ex coupe manual tranny civic for about 1.5 years now. Everything is stock, no mods on this car. it has 72000 miles on it, and last friday, i took my first road trip in it from new york down to atlanta, georgia.

I knew the sticker epa gas was 30 city and 35 highway, but i figured i could get alittle better then 35 straight highway.

I had a full tank leaving new york and got 350 miles on the car before i filled it up. the guage said about 1/3 tank left and i ended up putting 8 gallons back in, i did this again in tennesee after 350 miles driven, and got to georgia with about 1/2 tank left.

so i basically only used 21 gallons over 930 miles which comes out to about 43-44 miles per gallon cruising at 65 mph. anyone have mileage like this?

I know believe when honda says they are #1 at fuel-efficient cars.

hmmmm. well if i didn't drive at 75-80 all the time then i may be able to get similar gas mileage. i normally get around 28-30 on the freeway right now. and about 24-26 around town.

I have a 2001 LX 5-speed.. Average about 38 when I do a mix of city and highway driving (my last tank I drove 502 miles).. I get about 45 if I do all highway driving at 75-80 MPH. I am hoping that I get even better gas mileage when I get my car alligned properly.

Yup, if you work it right you can get some awesome mpg out of these things! I'm like psychocivic, if I drove the speed limit I could get way better mileage than I do.

my best recorded was a mix of city/highway (Cruise at 75-80) and driving it hard. after i did my swap at 37.5mpg. my best completely stock was 36 mpg. i never yet got to record a full highway trip, but i will when i do the o2 and fix the tps to get rid of the CEL
