My first civic. I've been reading every post on this site and a couple others trying to learn what I can. I'm looking for an engine tranny swap that I can afford as well as upgrade later. so far I've got on order... coilovers, struts, camber kit, intake, and header. I ran outta cash there. Next up I wanna finish the exhaust. Then get some paint and rims. So far I can only budget 3000 for an engine tranny. I've come to realize that thats not near enough for what I want. So till then I'm looking for every possible way to make what I've got a little bit better.

Don't go around thinking you are gaining power from it. You are losing power by not using the tube because Now your intake air temps are higher since you're sucking air from right above the engine and transmission.

The extra plastic is there for two main reasons. The first is colder air, and the second is to quiet the intake down, since most consumers don't like hearing the intake whistle.
