Default good mielage report

today i drove from amarillo, tx halfway to ft. worth, tx and back for a grand total of 319.2 miles. i filled up when i got back to town with 7.503 gallons. the math states that 319.2 miles divided by 7.503 gallons gives us a grand total of 42.542982806877249100359856057577. not bad for a ten year old car. in case your wondering its a 98 civic 1.6lt 5 speed manual. short ram intake, muffler, and a lower suspension. i figure for 42.5 mpg the moron down the street can keep his H2. im happy being the annoying little punk down the block. what are your personal best mpgs? and in what car?

haha, well I was only doing 60 with the cruise set. I have a great rant about my fuel economy and how it seems no car companies today are making vehicles as fuel efficient as these old hondas. check it out- http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndid=391323541

An HX should do much better than 31 mpg. The record mpg in my 00 Civic EX is 37 mpg. The code likely indicates a bad cat, but this would not affect gas mileage. Try replacing the plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor.

I did 42 mpg once in my 2000 LX, but I had no subwoofers, no back seat, and no passenger seat. Plus, almost the entire trip was highway and I had cruise control set at 65.

yes i expect it to do a lot better but i'm thinking theres a problem with my car. the CEL is one of them, i've replaced the spark plug wires and spark plugs at about 100,000 miles and its about 120,000 right now. do you think i should replace the cap and rotor right now? i hope its not a bad cat, i'm kind of hoping it might be the O2 sensor but i've heard from some people that O2 does not cause CEL. what do you think it might be besides a cat, the cat for the HX model is expensive.

and another problem with my car is when i first accelerate from a complete stop it makes a rumbling sound, sounds like its coming from the back. i did a transmission flush and the problem went away and came back. what do you think this problem might be? i'm hoping to get the problems check out by a mechanic soon
