Hello,

New here. I need to change my head gasket today or tomorrow. Problem is I am unable to get any place around here to provide new head bolts. They are either unable to get them or have to order then and it will be 1 to 2 weeks they say. I cant wait.

Before you bash me, I know these bolts stretch and are not supposed to be reused. But I am wondering if anyone here on a stock single overhead cam engine in a 2000 Honda Civic LX have ever reused their head bolts? And am wondering how your results went?

I cant wait as I have contracts/work orders I have to complete. So I'm strongly considering trying it. I don't want to and don't have much choice. I don't run the **** out of this thing but I do drive a lot of miles.

I have been on the phone with honda for the last half hour trying to inquire if the can help but ive been on hold over 30 minutes. lol. go figure.

 

LOL, I am still on hold with Honda. Its been about 45 minutes. I keep getting retransferred to the ford dept parts counter. He keeps transferring to the other Honda dealer parts counters at different locations and I end up on hold and nobody is picking up so I end up retransferred to this same Ford Parts Counter Guy. Its ridiculous.

All ways I have tried so far, I cannot locate new bolts. Autozone, nope, advance, 1-2 week wait, napa, nope, Fisher Auto, nope. Amazon 1-2 weeks. Ebay, few days to a week possibly.

See my dilemma.

 

Well after holding all that time, honda picked up n hung up. So I went to Rock Auto and ordered some and paid for fedex express shipping.

Tomorrow Ill have new unstretched head bolts.

 

...Why not just do that in the first place? You could have done that and, ya know, not wasted an hour of your life on the phone
