dont encourage him with the whole civic can take mustangs. This is how ricers start. Face it kiddo, civics are not meant to race v6s or v8s. If you want to beat a mustang, then get a v6 or v8 car. That is the range of car you should be looking at to beat a mustang.
With a civic, you should be racing other 4 cylinder cars, not v6 or v8s.

Ricers are brainless thinking they can beat anything that stands on there way. Mustangs,Corvettes etc. It's just plain stupid to be racing on streets and putting other people lives at RISK. Kiddo don't try to be a racer either you will end up lock up for killing somebody on a RACEor you will die racing just like that.
If you don't want a civic tell mommy and daddy to buy you a Mustang ,Corvette or maybe a skyline...lol..

lol you asking this question on a civic forum. well anyways good question though. if you get a civic just make sure you get one your going to be happy with like the engine and specs that fit you. Go for the vtec though.
