I've talked to a number of guys running high boost apps that had issues with the heat getting into the cabin, and making it unbearable hot. Lifting the hood helped A LOT in those cases. I'm sure there are plenty of Ricers out there doing it cause it's the MaD tYte JDM shizzle yO, but a lot do it for a purpose.
Tony, am I missing something here?
Cabin air intake on our cars is located between hood and windshield, right? Normally it gets about ambient temp air, may be just a bit heated after passing over the hood. If you tilt the hood, you let the hot air from engine bay to enter your cabin air intake, wouldn’t it make temp much hotter in the cabin, not cooler? Honestly, I can’t figure out how it could help cooling the cabin.
thats exactly what he was saying and i've heard of this before too. hes saying that the hood tilt has helped relieved the heat from under the hood and has gone into the cabin. also have heard that when u stick ur arm out of the window or w/e u can feel the warm air from the engine bay.

^ I think cause the hood tilt is cooling the engine bay, there for you may not have such hot air coming into the cabin.
I believe normally (without tilt) cabin air intake receives outside air, which is ALWAYS cooler than engine bay air. There is a seal at the back of the hood, that prevents engine bay air from entering cabin air intake. If you do the tilt, you let hotter (and polluted, btw) engine bay air to bypass this seal and to enter your cabin. That's how I understand this.

Than I guess I have a serious problem with my English. I understood, that cabin was hotter without the tilt, and the tilt helped both to cool the engine bay and to cool the cabin

It helps N/A cars also with ITB's because the engine compartment forms a air pocket inside of it w/o the rear of the hood tilted or vents in it. This is why vented hoods dont get engines all wet when it rains on such cars as the EVO. Fact is it does help and when you have a built car be it n/a or boosted you grasp at about anything and everything to fix a problem.

Marty,
I can see how this thing may cool engine bay. What I can't figure out is how it cools a cabin? Call me dumb ***, I just don't see how. And that is what puzzles me here....

Air under hood hot makes cabin hot, more air rushing in engine bay does not let engine bay get that hot=less hot air coming in cabin

I wish I could draw a picture here...

Like your pic, too
Problem is, cabin air intake is located outside the engine bay, and normally does not suck air from their

At what point did I say that the "air blowing in through the vents" got cooler? [&:]
