probably don't exist.

p.s. thread jacking is against the rules.

trini_sir: it all depends on what you do to it. People have successfully gotten upwards of 600-700whp from SOHC D-series engines. Fully built with a huge turbo on high boost of course... and an amazing tune.

The three stage Vtec is a fuel ecomomy Vtec. Also know as VtecE it is form on the d16y5 and the d15z1. This motor is not tuneable for proformance due to the lean burn tune on the ECU. You can put an intake exhaust and header(may need a cat and 02 extentions) and I think you install underdrive pullies. This is about all you can do to these motors. Dont expect to see great hp gain maybe 10-15 at the wheels.

Damn... 10-15 to the wheels for I/H and pulleys? (although, I have a sneaking su****ion that "underdrive" pulleys do not help with an HP increase at all) I would have thought more like 3-5 to the wheels.

Wait???? You can't mod a d16y5?? Click the link below.

While you are correct that it is designed for economy, you are wrong about not making power.
Many people have turbo'd their D16Y5's and made decent power. It is just a little more difficult, that is all.
However, you may have to give up the 3-stage VTEC feature and use a P28 ECU for tuning, which will only give you the standard 2-stage VTEC.

Also, underdrive pulleys are not recommended because D series cranks aren't balanced and the harmonic balancer in the stock pulley is what keeps your crank from wobbling and developing crank walk. Without the harmonic balancer you can destroy your engine.
