Default How to Get better Gas Mileage

What are ways to improve gas mileage?

It seems that adding all these accessory stuff actually decreases gas mileage and improves performance/speed. Are there any tricks to making car more fuel efficient? Some ideas, Lighter rims, Air Filter (K&N). I might be wrong and I am new to this. I drive an average of 60-100 miles a day and need all the help I could get. Please let me know

Thinner tires, higher air pressure will help, but will also adversely affect handling. Drive slower and don't roll the windows down on the highway. Make starts from lights/stops without accelerating aggressively. Keep the car tuned and don't drive around with unnecessary things in the trunk or unused racks mounted to the roof. Anticipate slow downs as much as possible and limit your braking...beyond all of this, there isn't much that you can do.

upgrading the intake and exhaust can give you better gas milage but only if you don't use the extra horsepower you get. Making the wheels lighter will definately help milage. Mythbusters did a thing on AC vs windows down and found that there wasn't much of a difference there, so don't do either if you don't have to.

Mostly I just find an SUV to draft

an upgraded ignition system can help out, also a little aerodynamic work could help a tad, like lowering, front lip, narrower tires, but tthey probably won't make a real world difference. but weight reduction if done enough is the biggest thing you could do, lose the spare and jack, lighter battery, lighter seats, diet , etc.

tape an egg to the gas pedal......and brake. Actually like above, just drive it soft and don't go above 2500RPM....
