I bought my first civic in 94. It was 84' JDM Si with EW5 engine, and it had about 100K miles on odometer. I'm pretty much sure real milage was at least twice as much. I sold it in 2002 after putting about 80K on it in Moscow, Russia, and it was still drivable. The body was almost completely rusted, and A/C did not work, other than that it was fine .
My second one I bought in 1999 here in US with 80K milage. It is 1992 Si. Canadian made and driven, it has some rust. I still have it, put about extra 100K on it, and it is just fine.
My third one I bought here in 2003 new. Si. I still have it, about 30K.

'98 EX with ~85K miles.

It just goes and goes and goes...

I put tires on it a few years ago & did the regular maintenance stuff to it. I'm shooting to keep it 'till it has 250K, then get a Honda Fit.

I too am looking at a '97 civic with about 95K miles. I'm curious as to how much the repair costs would be. If I buy the car and it needs a timing belt, what might that cost?

Thanks - looking forward to getting this car!!!

Last year the A/C died on my 89 Camry. I went looking for another used Camry but couldn't find one for a good price. I ended up buying a 97 Civic EX sedan. I new nothing about Hondas and bought it on reputation alone, plus the fact that it drove great on the test drive.

It had 86,000 miles when I bought it. A little over a year later it has 113,000 and still runs like a new car. I absolutely love this car. It drives like a sports car, quick acceleration and hugs the road. Very comfortable ride for a small car and I'm getting 33mpg.
Plus the interior is good quality. No cheap rattling plastic. All around class act!

I've always been a Toyota person(I've owned seven) but I am sold on Honda's now.

i'm 16

i go to prepschool so my parents really can't dish out a lot of money

so they bought me a 1997 civic LX 4dr with 118k on it for $5300.

the paint is almost perfect. real sweet maroon. anyways it is like my sports car. I plan to put 300k miles on it. one of my professors has a 92' civic with 350k miles and it's still going strong. so in a nutshell.... honda rules all. ford is gay
