I have a 96 dx coupe D16Y7 SOHC non-vtec 5 speed with a blown motor. What choices do I have for an engine swap without being to complicated. Wiring, engine mounts, etc.
A guy at my local autocross in a crx was running what he called a Jap spec. R. motor. The redline was 9g any ideas what it's really called and how hard it would be to get one?

That is not a V-TEC.
That is not a V-TEC.
why do people think this?
i think mods should change the post's name to "how to tell what motor you have and if it has VTEC"

actually, it is a D16Y8 which has VTEC. anyway, this is a post to show someone how to tell if they have VTEC and what engine they have. he is not asking...

and to those of you who dont know any BETTER, the SOHC VTEC(D16Y8) doesnt say "VTEC" on the valve cover. The only way to tell is to look for the engine code or look for the vtec solenoid.......which happens to be what this thread is supposed to be about, how to tell the difference!
