well, an evo MR or a WRX STI will obliterate all of the cars youve mentioned. and you are considering a VW over a Mitsu because of reliability? VWs are notorious for having tons of problems. great performers, but just really high upkeep.

Well, here's why I won't buy a Mitsubishi. I see them regularly in the tranny shop my old man owns. And a rebuilt tranny on a stock eclipse is NOT CHEAP, nor is it on any other car for that matter....
I've been considering the VW 1.8t or VR6...
the dillema continues.

for a couple thousand more than a well equipped eclipse, you can get a freakin Evo. no contest. i think the eclipse was in tended as a more mainstream car than the evo, because it doesnt really compete with it in anything. nice looking car though.

Wait, you won't buy a Mitsubishi because of tranny issues but you'll consider a Volkswagen? More tranny issues from VWs than Mitsubishi. Neither are a Honda but the Mitsu is considerably better than the VW

in terms of longevity, yes. But as far as initial quality is concerned, VW is superior. You just gotta sell it before it hits 60,000 miles like i did, heh heh
