Just bought '04 LX 4dr. for daughter..Help
Just bought a 4dr CIvic LX for my daughter. Some history, the vehicle was wrecked but repaired to original appearance before I purchased.Looked great..drove very smoothly. I took it into a dealer to have a key made. Evidently while they were programming the key they noticed there were three broken engine mounts. Quoted 490.00 to repair.I plan to have thisrepaired. This may be a stupid question but will the broken mounts affect gas mileage? I filled it up at 69957 milesand three days later it was on 70099 with needle showing half tank. Thats like 19 mi/gal. which is horrible for a civic.
ANy help is appreciated.

my gas meter is always inaccurate. It always changes up and down depending on where i drive
usually at half i get around 100 miles street or 150 highway, then when i refill its either at 260-280 or 300-310
i have the same car too
i got about 45k miles on it
i wouldnt worry about HALf a tank of gas just drive it till it runs on e to see how much u really get

My '91 probably has little in common with your '04. FWIW my fuel guage moves very slowly through the 1st half of the tank, then faster through the 2nd half. I'm getting about 36 MPG in town.

yeh my needle isnt also perfect it hangs around full for a while, but that is understandable because i fill it past "full" but it also lingers around halfway for a while, and it always goes up and down depending on the hills i go up and down and the corners, but it does take a little while to level out to where it should be especially in the lower half

It sounds like you may be estimating your miles per gallon. The only way you can know for sure is to fill the car up again, and divide the number of gallons required for the fill up into the number of miles driven. I have an '04 LX 4 door (automatic), and I consistently get 28-32 mpg around town, and 37-41 mpg on the interstate.

Thanks everyone..I see what you're saying now. Went to fill it back up from half a tank showing on needle and it only needed 5.1 gal which is closer to 26 mi/gal. I'll have her drain it down low this next time to get a more accurate reading.
The mounts worry me though. I know theres a housing for the motor and its not going to fall out but I hope that the accident it was in didn't damage more such as internal parts. It'll take me a few weeks to save enough for the mount repairs. I'll have them check out the motor then.

you may also want to think ( and i KNOW nobody's child has ever done this) she maybe putting her foot on the gas really hard everywhere she goes.....at every stop....every highway.....everytime she has to speed up....or maybe clean your fuel injectors, check your air filter, change your oil, and check your tire pressures.
