Default Just bought a 2003 Civic

Hi everyone,

I just bought a used 2003 civic lx 5 speed and I joined this site hoping to learn about my car and contribute my knowledge to this community.

Since I just bought this car, I want to do a full tune up and inspection on the car.

On my list of things to do are:
Change Spark Plugs
Change Oil
Change Air Filter
Inspect breaks
Inspect tires

Does anyone else have any ideas for a basic tune up, maintence, or things I should get (i.e. service manual) to prepare myself for mainting my car?

Thanks

id suggest getting the battery, alignment, and i usually tell my boys to get the car checked out by a mechanic some will charge like 20-40 bucks but its worth it. or sears auto center will give you a free evaluation on suspension and all that.

I highly recommend getting a Haynes manual, all the info you need is in there. Also by useing the search on this site you'll find a lot of info.

It's usually in intervals of 15k miles that you need to check or replace certain things, there are the basics like you have put down, then there are; coolant flushes, timing belt changed, transmission fluid, water pump, brake fluid flushed, CV boots, power steering fluid....

thanks for the feedback.
they guy who i bought the car had the car inspected by a mechanic before he sold the car to me
allignment feels fine, but the car will need new tires in about a year, so ill do an allignment then

i've had problems with sears
they seem like they dont know what they're doing
they have good machinery but all the techs are like right out of school

i just got the haynes manual off ebay for 15 bucks so ill be following that on my repairs
