Default Keeping the wheels looking new.

I have the 06 Civic Coupe LX.
It comes with the standard black rims with the circle holes in them covered with the silver plastic wheel covers. I don't need anything fancy but would like it to look nice.
You can see between the gaps of the wheel covers and see the black rim.
Now that the car is a year old the black is now dull and looks old.

Is there a way to make the black rim shine like it was new and keep it that way?

Thanks

Have you tried to wash it? It gets coverd in brake dust so everytime you wash your car you need to clean them as well. If that doesnt work, take off the hubcaps and re-paint the steels black again with some rust paint.
