Default might get a civic...

I currently own a 98 SOHC 4dr neon (lightly modded) lookin to get a civic tho.

I'm trying to make a list of things to watch out for when getting a used civic just wondering if you guys have any ideas. Are there any areas that are prone to rust (we get snow and the highway dept uses salt/sand) such as wheel wells, fenders, floor bords? What usually wears out first on a civic (lookin at the 92-95 year range) plan on getting an EX or SI, any help would be great.

Thanks

Make sure the tranny is in good shape. Although they aren't extremely expensive to replace, it can be a big hassle.

when people swap out the stock d16 motors for the b16/18 series motors how hard is that, a friend of mine has a basic shop (welders painting equip etc) what all do you need to do something like that.

They're pretty easy to do, depending on how much experience you have. Just need something to lift the engine out with (or you could get some strong guys to lift the chassis over the engine), and all the parts for the swap.

i guess standard stuff to watch out for is at around 100,000 miles or so. Oxygen sensor, transaxle, timing belt, etc. and yes make sure the tranny is in good condition.

and its hard to "watch out for" but the distributor is one of the weak points of hondas.

Sorry to split hairs (for the umpteenth time), but transaxle is actually another word for an auto tranny.

i thought a transaxle was a front drive transmission, one that contained the differential. i guess i never knew for sure, thats just what i always thought.
