Default Is my engine Ok?

I checked my oil today, and the dip stick was bone dry This is after 3K while using Valvoline dino. I put one quart of dino in the engine and the dip stick read about half way in the safe zone. It seems to run fine. Do you think I'm OK as long as I keep the oil level up? How many quarts do you think she burnt (no visible leaks) in 3K miles? Why would I burn so much oil? I run 100 miles a day highway.

Can anyone recommend a new type of oil to try that will not burn as fast?

considering how much you run your civic, you should change your motor oil every 3k miles. i'd recommend switchin your motor oil to full synthetic motor oil if you haven't done so. and IMO i wouldn't recommend addin quart after quart of new oil when u need to with the already used oil in your motor.

your motor is fine if it isnt knocking, just every week pull the dipstick and check your oil levels, if low buy a quart of oil and add it.
what oil are you using now?

Use thicker oil...it takes longer to burn

I burn about 2.5 quarts a week in my car and I started putting either 10w40 or 20w50 in it and it doesnt but quite that much anymore

But Also I dont give a poop about my engine because of my new one.

Thanks everyone. I ended up adding two quarts last night and this put it back up to the fill hole on the stick. I might try Castrol GTX high milage and see how that works. The engine has seen Castrol GTX and as far as I know, it did not have any issues with it. I dont hear any knocking and I drove 50 miles this morning to work with out any issues, so I guess my motor is fine.

Does anyone think synthetic will not burn as much as dino? I do not want to keep adding expensive synthetic when I'm low.
