Default need engine compatibility info for 96 lx 1.6l

threw a rod bearing. need a new motor. anyone know what other displacements will bolt up? have an automatic tranny. i am looking for a direct bolt in. don't care too much about performance, just need a reliable motor.

since you have a d-series transmission, you'll need a d-series block (anything from a 92-00 ex/lx/dx should bolt right up.... 99-00 si engines won't). I wouldn't recommend a vtec block (d16z6 or d16y8) since you'd have to wire for vtec and it doesn't really seem like you care about power all that much.

Oh, and please keep it one thread per topic

so if i find a cheap d15 that should bolt in? it seems they are a dime a dozen and the 1.6's are hard to find around here without spending 750 and up vs. 300 for a d15, 1.5l

wouldn't he need to convert to OBD1 if he bought 92-95?
