It actually does the opposite from my experience. I put a skunk2 IM on my D16y8 back in the day. It was horrible. Unless you don't mind revving the engine close to redline to find the "usable" power range that was once down lower, then go for it. I ended up swapping that IM out for a supercharger. That was MUCH better in terms of throttle response
