I have a 1993 civic ex, i dont have the original engine or tranny, can someone please tell me what those are, i dont like whats in it and i want to put the original engine and tranny back in if you know please tell me. Thanks in advance!

 

on the side of the motor, facing the front of the car, where the engine meets the tranny, there should a number stamped onto the block. The stock for your ex was D16Z6. As for the tranny, im not really sure where but it should have either a A000 or B000 stamped somewhere on it. the stock is a B000

 

it has a b20b with dohc vtech head in it and a y20 tranny currently. but i want to go back to stock. i need better gas mileage, thanks for the info!!

 

wow, never heard of someone WANTING to go from a b20 back to a d series. you will also need the p28 ECU if you want to go back to stock

what kind of gasmilage do you get? i think that should still get decent mileage

 

as far as MPGs go, it probably has more to do with your driving style than the b20, i know someone with a b20 and another friend with h22 swaps and their mileage is not far from my stock DX...

 

its getting about 21mpg, what would i need to put the b16z6 in it instead of the d?

 

i also want to go back because the engine i have now leaks alot of oil and the transmission in it just blew. i found a d16z6 and transmission for it for $1089.78 with shipping. so i just want to have a reliable engine

 

You could go to a D15B7, converting the car to basically an LX. It doesn't get any more stock than that. Good mpg and reliable, and it should be easier to find the engine and ECU since it's not VTEC.
