If the tranny is the only difference, a manual will wear an auto out.

Yeah, in two cars with the same mods, a manual will be quicker to the finish line than an auto. There are some exceptions to this though, like if you have 300+ Hp or you are bracket racing.

alright i get u now, could u give me an example, like how much faster, if a manual ran a 15, what would a auto run, like 17's or faster than that?

I have seen numbers on the stock Ex (I forget which year), 1/4 mile- manual - 18.6, auto - 19.1. When you start making more power though, the number start getting closer. You can't really control boost with an automatic. All of the really fast Civics I have seen have all been manual. All of the serious domestic drag cars I see are automatic though.

Patrick's drag car is probably an auto.

Of course it's still worth modding. Its a Civic isn't it? I just dont' think you'll be happy with a turbo in an automatic though. Supercharger would be good. The auto could add to your sleeper status.

What do you have in mind?

yeah its still worth modding, but if you can manage, swap in a manual. but honda autos suck for big numbers. they just arent made for putting up with a lot of power like domestic autos are. but for around town and occassional track use, an auto will be decent.
