ok im putting a piece of Plexiglas in that spot on the left. Its going in the hole and resting on 3 small pieces of wood. Whats the best way you think I can do to hold it in place besides bolts or nails.

Well, I know you don't want screws...

But I think you should smoke the edges of the plexi (or acrylic) and counter sink the plexi and use tapered screws.
