RE: QUICK question please
it doesnt matter how long the upper part of the shifter is, i think its the difference in how far the pivot ball at the bottom of the shifter is from the bearing attached to the shift linkage

RE: QUICK question please
^ you sir are correct. short shifter puts the pivot point higher on the shifter there for you dont have to move top of the shifter as far and the bottom where it bolts to the shift linkage moves the same distance as before. for ex. take a straw hold it with two fingers so it can pivotabout 1in from the bottom and move the top you have to move the top farther to make the bottom movenow hold the straw about 2-3in and you dont have to move the top of the straw as far as before and the bottoms moves the same amount of distance. so no cutting the top off doesnt make it a short shifter

RE: QUICK question please
Well, if you want to be "technical" about it, the guy that cut his stock shifter has a short shifter which is purely for aesthetic purposes. The shifter that people get for shorter shift distance is a short throw shifter. Most people leave out the word throw because it takes longer to say.
So, yeah, the douche has a short shifter, but it isn't doing anything. Call him a douche for me, lol.
