Well, the insurance adjuster came by today and gave us a total on the damage from the recent break in and theft on my sister's Civic. (See my thread in the AV forum). Total damage to the car: $8XX, plus whatever from the stolen audio equipment. Minus deductable: a whopping $300 something. It's been a strange trip. It went to the shop, but then came back not fixed, minus broken parts, then they wanted the actual adjustor to see it... I dunno. I thought our agent was cool. Now I think he's not so bright?
That's okay, because we know a guy who will fix the console and the window for cheap. We drove 45 minutes out to his shop, and his quote was $250. It's nice to have connections. The car will be finished tomorrow.
While we were there with both the damaged Civic and my Civic, I got an estimate for the paint on my hood and front bumper cover: $275 to get both parts repaired and repainted. Nice.
Also, on the way there, the car rolled over to 100,000 miles. Still strong. Glad I made it to this milestone.
So with this in mind, I got another estimate while we were there. He'll do the timing belt, water pump, valve adjustment, swap some coolant, and find out what that strange engine vibration is for $230.
Looks like I'm gonna drop a lot of cash at the beginning of 2008.
