Exclamation Rear wheel wobble

Hey whats going on,

I have a quick question,I already did some searches and I think my driverside rear wheel bearing is shot from what i read. I have a 93 civic lx

I was driving behind my civic and I see the driverside rear wheel start to wobble. Now i jack up the car spin the wheel and i can hear metal rubbing metal when the wobble happens. Would you guys say this is a wheel bearing?

I also put another rim on and spun it and it did the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
andrew

With the wheel off the ground but still bolted to the brake drum grab the wheel with two hands opposite each other. There should be basically no movement if the bearing is decent. Be sure the vehicle is properly supported before you apply any force to the wheel-don`t want any unexpected vehicle movement. Good luck.

Do Essire's test, where you don't take anything apart just jack up the car so the wheel is not touching the ground. Then do not spin just try to wobble the wheel back and forth. Any motion at all means the bearing is shot. Replace it immediately -- the wheel is likely to come off entirely if you keep driving.

The likely fix will be to replace the rear wheel hub unit, which contains the wheel bearing. The diagram is for rear disc brakes but rear drum brakes have the same unit.

Alright well I did the bearing test and its as tight as a cats ***. But i took out the car today and decided to see if it had something to do with the brakes and the e-brake. Well its something with the brakes. When im at speed and pull up the e brake ( its an automatic car) I hear a very loud click click click from the wheel that is wobbling.

Im gunna try tom. to pull the drum off and see if there is anything physically wrong but what do you guys think now.

Thanks so much guys!

You did not have the brake on when you lifted the wheel to try to wobble it, right?

Sounds like something is wrong with the brake and you definitely need to take the drum off and inspect further. But bad brakes will not make the wheel wobble.
