First of all, I drive a 95 cx almost mint condition, 105k miles, 5spd, no p/s, only a/c, 0% rust, nice interior, and no mods other than stereo. It comes with good winter tires and brand new summer tires with rims.

Okay. Well, I've had my car posted for sale for awhile, because I'm looking for a 4x4. I'm looking for a toyota surf diesel. I've found one, but it's in a different province and it's quite a bit. 11k$. This means I'd have to take out a 4000$ loan (I make 25k a year, so it shouldnt take too long to pay off.. should it?).

Now I had some guys come today to look at my car, and they seem to like it. They offered me 5600$. I wanted more, but I said we could talk more about the price later. If I sell the car, which would be sometime next weekend (because these guys live out of town and work on weekdays) I would be without a car until I can get my next one. I would like to hearyour opinions. I have made my final decision already but I'm starting to have doubts. What would you do...?

 

Masonn man thats a pretty good deal being fairly close to where you are (im in Calgary, AB) and nice choice on the toyota surf diesel That truck wouldn't happen to be here in AB would it, as I have seen a few of them around here for sale, and im pretty sure Calgary is only a few 100km from Saskatoon. Anyways I am actually thinking of selling my car. a 94 cx hatch with 192000km on it but also very clean and is only lowered on tein stech/skunk2 shocks and has a skunk2 short shift kit (but i will put the stock shift on again). I was looking for around 3500 and will let it go for about that mabey 3g. Does your car have 105,000 km or
105,000 miles? It seems like a good offer though being almost similar in the car value market based on location. I guess its up to you but if u really want that toyta I would say go for it! Its nice $$. Also is that surf rhd? Im just waiting for a sylvia or gts4 skyline to come my way with a good deal and sadly I think the civic will be gone (it has no a/c for gods sake)[:@]

id saw keep it..... one with little rust is hard to find...
i went thru a similar debate with myself this past month about my black coupe.


if you NEED......... a 4x4 then id say do what ya got to do. but if ya dont need a 4x4 IMO id keep it!


dont get me wrong I LOVE fullsize trucks. very versitle in every way BESIDES........ gas cost!
i always hated that $75+ gas fillup every week just to go to work and back!

 

$5600 is a pretty good price, i'd sell it for that for sure if i was you

I think if I lowballed a bit he would do it. Considering I have to do a mechanichal inspection here, who knows. But there are some in saskatoon but the head's havent been done. The 2.4L diesel engines heads are weak and it costs above 3 grand to fix. So I want to get one with the head already done. I can't find any for sale in SK with the head done

 

I just finished talking to a dealer in manitoba about a blue toyota hilux 5spd 4x4. Those diesel engines have 97 hp but over 180ftlbs of torque. They're rated at 22mpg city and over 30 highway. The dealer said he wants 6500 for it, and it has 4000$ worth of head work done to it. The only issue with it is that it has a fuel pump issue that it sends too much fuel at startup and smokes for a couple minutes but then clear up after... and plus, it's a 8 hour drive to winnipeg manitoba. but for 6500, I can't really go wrong... can I? for a fuel efficient diesel 4x4 5spd? And I won't have to take out a loan. I'm going to try to at least get 6000, if not 5800 from these guys before I definetly sell though, it can't hurt.

No, the car was purchased with air as the only option. It gets hot in saskatchewan... lol
