Want to sell a 96 civic but can not figure out the worth
Can some of you help me with some advice. I have a 96 Civic DX (2dr) 16y8(?) engine. Basically this is the low end DX with the little HP motor. I could be wrong about the engine designation but it is not a v-tech! This little carjust turned over190,000 miles, 5 speed manual, average cleanliness interior, runs great, has virtually no rust, a few dents, white with grey interior, cold A/C andthe HondaCD player. It has had the engine light on for two years P-402(?)I think, (low outer bank efficiency) low or something like that. I was told it was the o2 sensor but the car gets 34-36 mpg (summer) so I just ignore it, occasionally the light shuts off and comes back but it is mostly on. (I know, I know, just fix it...) Other than that it is a very simple little car, crank windows, flip locks, that is basically it.
I would put this in the classifieds section but I am not sure how much to ask for it. I have seen similars cars go for $2500-$4000 but if it is not worth that I want to know why and be able to discuss it clearly. Visually, this little car looks great with one dent on the drivers side door and a scrape in the rear bumper (all stock). I can get some pictures too it that would help.
Can someone give me some idea of what thiis little car is worth?
Thanks,
Keith
It has been so long since I have been on here that I forgot the car is the one pictured in my grainy side bar.

Its VTEC not vtech...and you have a d16y7. Id say roughly 3000-4000 tops because of the miles and stuff. But without more pictures, its hard to judge
Log onto KBB.com. Look for used car values, truthfully enter the data that is requested, and you should be able to find out, for your geographic area, the retail, private sale and trade-in value for your car.
Yeah you've got 200K miles, scratches, dents, and a little rust and an emission problem that will probably cost mid-three figures to repair. So I'd say realistically $2000.
