Question Shifter question

This may seem like a dumb question, but is there a correct direction/orientation to install a dual-bend short shifter?

(excuse my horrible sketch lol, my mouse is way to sensitive)

I currently have the first configuration and it works fine, could you and/or would there be any reason to switch it to the way on the right?

Edit: in case ppl dont look at the pic the same way as me i meant the shifter is oriented so that if you grabbed it your knuckles would be pointing left in both pics

does anyone know? or at least tell me which direction you have your own shortshifter. In my searches i found DIY's that had it both ways, but would turning mine around bring the shifter closer to my hand/make it easier?

i believe its more or less personal preference.... if your short youd want it closer, if your taller you want it further from ya... you know longer or shorter arms you can always just unbolt the bottom linkage, turn the shifter around and see how it feels to you. its easy to change it around if you want....

The pivot points would be the same either way right, like one wouldnt give you longer/shorter throws than the other?

If its too far away then you installed it wrong. I have mine closer to me

theres no change from the throw... the throw is on the bottom. the top handle on the shifter is only personal preference.
