Don't get in the habit of shifting down too far below 3,000, as it will actually put MORE wear on your engine than higher-rpm driving (due to the lack of low-speed oil pressure).

Always wanted to ask you if there's any way around it?

Dry sump. Or possibly some freaky-deaky custom oil line routing. But the bottom line is, Honda engines aren't built to drive like V8's.

I thikn that if you have to be asking this question. you need. to stop playing video games. amd stop diving all together. let's put it this way: Make your manual think it's and automatic. drive an auto for a few days or hours even, and then make your stick do the same thing. shift low unless you need the power. just like an automatic!

I tend to change aroun 2500 or 3000 RPM. I dont know if this good for petrol consumbtion but it does make for a hell of a smooth ride.

I was always taught that you should be shifting at whichever RPM that the car can accelerate most quickly in. Being that you aren't overexherting the engine, and thus reducing fuel consumption. I don't redline my gears unless I'm racing someone. However, I know a guy that redlines his 2000 SI every time he shifts like every day and his car still runs great. Sure he has some internal mods, but it still runs like a champ.

Well, redline is there for a reason: Honda takes the engine, cranks it up to 8,000 or something, and runs it for 48+ hours straight. If it blows up, they drop to 7,500 or something and do it again. When they find a speed that the engine will survive at, they subtract 500-750 rpm or so and mark the redline. Redline is not something to be afraid of, but don't drive to it unless you know how to read your engine's responses.
