Should I buy this Civic?
Don't know if this is the right area as I just joined, But it looks like the right one, So just move me if i'm in the wrong
I am looking for a new car to upgrade from my ford probe, and my buddy is selling his honda civic and I wanna get an idea from some enthusiasts on whether its a good deal or not.
1999 2 door EX Model (with trunk, not hatchback) in dark green.
$3000
180,000 miles on body, and about 120,000 on a replacement motor (1.6 vtec)
-The car has never been driven in winter, and has no rust.
-carbon fiber hood with scoop going inwards
-upgraded painted wing
-Needs new passenger door and fender (small sized denting)
-****ty body kit (just looks cheesy, not installed right, not painted right)
-Upgraded taillights and headlights (also cheesy looking)
headers, stock replacement cat, 2.5 inch exhaust all the way back to a 3.0 inch fart can (sounds like poop)
-Fuel pressure regulator
-off-brand 9.4mm spark plug wires
-new distributor and rotor
-upgraded ecu
-aem short ram intake
-high end boot/shift ****
-upgraded injectors and fuel rail
-front brakes have drilled/slotted rotors, back are drums
-white tuner rims with good tread high end tires
-theres probably more mods, but thats the jist of it.
-interior is generally just really dirty/stained
-comes with none of the audio equipment (no stereo or speakers) but i do know the stuff works, he just wants to keep it all.
-headliner has some rips
Mechanically it runs like it should though.
I've never had a honda, so i have no clue on what they are worth or anything like that, but if i get it i plan on going all out. (new paintjob, bodykit, some custom body work, possibly an engine swap to an h22, and definately turbo)
Thanks for the help

Too much aftermarket crap IMO. If you want service life, stick with OEM. I paid around $3000 for mine and think I got taken by a few hundred. So far I've done rear brakes, oil pan gasket, muffler, ignition coil, thermostat, radiator, and e-brake cables. What you've seen doesn't include the stuff you find to fix after you buy it (and you will, believe it). If you can get it for under $2500 and are after performance, go for it. If you want OEM reliability, I'd steer clear. My .02.
