Default Should I get this Civic 01 EX but *HIGH* mileage

Hi Guys...

I found a nice 2001 Civic Ex coupe 5-spd...one owner and very well maintained...pre-purchase inspection to finalize the deal is next week...

One older owner so its not raced or abused, but the mileage is 151,000miles highway...[:@]

I know these cars are really reliable, my family has 3 hondas, with no problems.

Say I get a new waterpump/timing belt and inspection is okay, would this be a good car for 3500-4000USD ? Or should I avoid it due to age...(I cant even find a value for it because the blackbook/bluebook or whatever it is doesnt list mileage up that high...)

Thank you for your advice !

Thanks for the quick reply...do you know where I could get a copy of the maintainance schedules ? I asked the mechanic to do an indepth exam of the car and run a compression test, etc, but any thing else I can check for would be great...thank you very much...is there a special schedule for 150,000miles or do you justrepeat the 100,000 every so often ?

No modding at all...I cant even drive a 5speed so I have to ask the mechanic or the guy to drive it home for me if I buy it, LOL...

Maybe I will buy a new shift **** or something like that, but not much more...

I'd say buy it. As long as it has been well maintained and you have a complete history, what's there to fear? Shouldn't be too many surprises.

My dad and I snagged a 2000 Civic for $2900 about 2 years ago. The guy was the only owner and had a complete history. The downside? 235,000 highway miles.

It's still going today. We keep the maintenence up on it, and last I checked it's at 248,XXX. It has been one of the best Civics we have owned, and we've had six.

Thanks for the comments and advice on things to check, please keep em coming, I appreciate it...

Originally I was looking for at thelower mileage civicswithno options (DX model?) for a few thousand $ more, but then I saw this car and its a beauty...sunroof, pwr, keyless, abs, etc, its pretty well featured. I hope themechanicsays its tight...looks like a really fun car.

Can anyone please point me in the direction of the maintenace schedule...Ifound a copy of the shop repair book which is several hundredpages...but a list of scheduled things to check would be great if there is an area with these things in pdf...many thanks...

honestly man you'd be crazy not to take that deal. i payed 10 grand canadian for mine and mines an 02 and it had 100k on it. so 3500-4 for one with 50k more would be a screamin deal in my opinion. does it look dirty or rusted under the hood?
