Default Stereo access codes...stereo wont work

Do I have to call the dealer to reactivate my stereo? How is that done? See my car battery got taken off to try and reset the check engine light and the maintenance light. Check engine one went off...So did my radio and I dont have the code as I bought the car used.

Yeah you'll probably have to go down to the dealer with a copy of your VIN number

I thought so. Just hoped that maybe there was some secret way to fix it...
Thanks

Or just call, and the owner of the car needs to be the one to call if its not registerd under your name.

Had to do this a little wile ago to someones car.

Hey- I'm not sure what you're in, but on the 06 and 07's, there is a 5 digit code needed to activate the sound system. That code is on a credit-card sized Anti-Theft Radio ID card. You might want to poke through any paperwork you've got on the car and see if you still have this card before you go through the hassle of taking it to the dealer?

Good luck!

agreed, I had the same thing for my 92 Honda Accord. might have one for the 97 civic too.

come to think of it, mom had one for both her 2000 and 2005 civics too. had to fix it for her more than once.

yea your gonna have to call the dealer....i work for a honda dealership for a summer job...all you need is your vin#.....o and btw dont try and guess the 5 digit code...cuz then it will think your a thief and lock up and you'll need to do something to fix it[&:].....o wait i remember you get either 5 or 10 tries to put it in, if you dont get it right then it locks up and goes into theft mode and you'll have to leave your radio on for like and hour before you can try again...it sounds kinda silly but its true
