Default Stereo help??

Hey how do you guys install your aftermarket stereos on 6th gen civics? I was thinking about installing my pioneer deck down where the tape deck is and leaving the top one on to use the clock. Any suggestions? I got some time to waste cause i cant install the stereo till i find this damn water leak in the trunk!!! really annoying

I'll go take a pic of where your leak is.

Sorry for the bad quality, thats the driver's side of my trunk......But you should be able to run your finger along the underside there and feel where the metal doesn't quit line up

dude today i removed all the carpet from the trunk, pulled down the seats and went in with a flashlight while my dad hosed down the trunk. Theres these 2 holes one on each side and both are supposed to be pluged up with a white plastic plug. Well mines missing ones and its leaking water in my trunk Anyone know the part # ? Anyways im pleased and then i can get at the stereo. I cant imagine it being complicated installing the stereo like i want??? Any suggestions?

There are a number of posts regarding how to install the stereo, and I know there is one lurking around here about how to put it in the tape deck slot. I managed to do it on my 97 (though, more standard setup). I moved stock head unit into the dash to keep keyless, and using the T harness, hooked up the aftermarket head unit in its place. I think your ability to do it easily with the T-harness will depend on year.

Yea but he doesnt want a standard install. he wants to install it down low.
pm Itinerant
he did it recently.

I think I might do the same because the heat from the vents overheats my new headunit....gahh

A lot of it will carry over though, so it is a good starting point.

I really like the lower dash install, I just didn't want two radios in the dash showing, and I need the OEM radio to keep keyless

Ive decided to install it normally because it seems easier. Im just waiting on my ipod hookup to come from crutchfield. Cant wait!!! But will the cd player overheat if i install it up top? i never use the front vent for warm air only the defrost(i live in northern canada lol)
