Default Thinking of buying another civic

Not right now, but in the near future. I love my si but work is so far away and i have to fill up every three or four days so its getting pretty expensive. So i was looking at 99 or lower models with better mpg than the si. Whats the big difference between the 99 ex and the hx other than the horsepower and mpg? (ex and hx manual cars)
Would i really be saving that much more or would it come back to haunt me when something breaks and i cant find hx parts.

The hx has the d16y5 Vtec-e. If i remember correctly they run on 3 valves until 2500rpm and runs on 4 valves. They will get slighty better gas mileage than a ex.

why not find a crx just to commute?

So if i look for an hx would it be hard finding parts for it, or would most of the ex parts fit?

I don't have a hard time finding parts for my 99 HX MT. But probably an MT transmission might be hard to find. I get weekly 42.5 mpg tanks average.

HX MT's pop up infrequently on Craigslist! But some are hopped up!
