Default Timing Belt Replacement?

Hi,
I have a 2002 Honda Civic LXG at 120 000 kms (I live in Canada). I know Honda recommends replacing the timing belt at 100 000 kms. How crucial is this?

IMO a timing belt could live for 200 000Kms... But it could also **** at 121000... And if it ****s you could end up having to replace the head, or worse, the engine.

its really important because if it goes you could loose your entire engine due to bent valves or something of the sort. honda dealerships from what im seeing usually charge about 440 to replace the timing belt and the water pump. it ur up there in miles and have never done it before, it would be a good idea to do. btw....it you have the right tool to take off your crank pulley, you can save about 200 by doing it yourself. really not that hard at all.
