When you have headphones on, you can't hear things around you. What if someone honks their horn at you because you're about to hit them but you don't hear it? hmm...

Oh and btw, it's not illegal to talk on a cell phone in most places. Maybe in your city or state, but not the majority of the US.

Just do some sound deafening on the floorboards and in the wheelwells. You should notice that most of the road noise will go away. Also, your interior should stay cooler and your stereo will most likely sound better (because it keeps the sound inside).
They sell spray-on sound deafening at WalMart. It's made by 3M, I believe, and it costs like 6 bucks a can. I used it on the underside of my trunk lid and it worked wonders for rattling. I will soon be doing my floorboards, wheelwells, and the spot above the fuel tank (accessible from interior).

Are there any fixes to this, can soundproofing be applied? Different tires? Noise canceling headphones? Drive at 45 on the freeway =) ???
it happens to everyone, and it affects coupes a lot more than it affects other cars. get some noise canceling headphones, its the best technique and is the cheapest

Thank you all for the advice. I will look into the store bought spray on sound deadening first but might still need to get noise canceling headphones for a long trip.
