What causes transmission to fail?
Had to have my transmission rebuilt after about 40K. Car was having trouble shifting to the next gear when going up hill then check engine light came on. I am now selling the car. Potential buyers seem to think that because if it failed after 40K then it will likely fail again after another 40K. Is that reasonable to assume? Is there something "wrong" with this car?

the 7th generation civics had faulty automatic transmissions stemming from the non replaceable internal mesh filters being to fine and small causing blockage leading to oil pressure drop and causing damage to the clutch packs. this problem was more prevalent in the 01-03 models the 04-05 got an upgraded filter which seemed to lower the amount of damaged transmissions. this problem should have been cause for a recall but it never happened. so with that being said the rebuilt trans is only as reliable as the person who rebuilt it and what parts were used.
