I need to find a cheper way to get to and from work. My pickup is killing me with the high diesel prices. so I am looking at a civic. are there any years to look out for good or bad? I was looking at a 93 civic 4 door 5 speed with 254,000 miles $1800. now is this car ready to die with that menny miles on it what are thies engines capale of? thanks.

 

well open the truck and flip up the mats and make sure there is no rust underneath, if there is thats a bigg no no and prolly means the car was involved in a flood, i know after hurrican katrina hella cars where showing up in the bay area, where im from, that had rusk problems. also make sure you get a car fax report!!!!

 

wow 254000? thats a lot of miles, you might need to invest in another engine and tranny. (depending on how the previous owners treated it)

 

If maintenance records are all there then the car is probably fine. There was a Honda that rolled over to 0 from 999,999.

Rust is a big issue. Also, are there any noises from the engine? Any grinds from the tranny?

It might even be worth it having a certified Honda dealership open up the engine and take a gander.

 

-rear quarter panel rust is also an issue.
-make sure the timing belt has been changed regularly or gets changed when you get it
