What oil and filter do you use?
another question which oil do i use on my civic 5-30 or 10-30. i kind of remember its 5-30 not 100% sure. i always get mixed up about the numbers every time i go buy the oil. also when i refill up my oil do i use 4 bottles? looks like i'll me getting the mobil 1 tomorrow, i went to costco today and they sold out the 5-30.
for anyone that wants to get mobil 1 it's on sale at costco right now. there is a coupon in their coupon book for $9.00 off. limit 2. so i'll be picking 2 cases for myself. and a case has 6 bottles. so it will last me for 3 oil changes

10W-30 for temperatures only above 20* F, and 5W-30 if it ever gets below 20* F where you live.
10W will lubricate slightly better i'm pretty sure, but not enough to make any difference whatsoever. If it doesn't get close to 20* F, just get which ever of the two that you want to. If it gets close to 20* F or lower where you live, make sure you get 5W-30, as this is important.
Oil capacity is technically 3.5 quarts, but I just pour in all 4, which I suspect most people do.

I also did a little reading about oil filters. Fram filters, in general, seem to suck (as mentioned by some in this thread). An exception is Fram Tough Guard, which is okay but not great.
Mobil 1 is among the best, yet is overpriced.
It seems that, if you are like me and want a good filter at the lowest price, the Purolator Premium Plus is a good choice. Note: These are my interpretations. To make your own decision, read information presented here:

An additional important feature of a good oil filter is the anti-drain back valve, which prevents oil at the top of the engine from draining into the pan when the engine is not running. This feature prevents valve tap when the engine is cold. Apparently, the good filters also have better anti-drain back valves than the bad filters.
lol
mine's a little above the full mark, and I literally JUST changed my oil.
what do you suggest I do?
Drain enough oil to bring the oil level just to the full mark. By the way, the best time to check the oil level is 30 minutes after the engine is stopped or even better overnight.
By the way, here's a vivid description for why you don't want to overfill the engine with oil:

That's tricky. You'll probably drain more than is necessary before getting the drain bolt screwed back in -- and your arm will be covered in oil. Then just top off with fresh oil.
damn this is going to suck
