3k most of the time....my honda manual says the speeds to shift and it comes out at right about 3k per shifts for best fuel economy.

I've always gone by sound... so, I watched the other day... when I'm driving normally, anywhere between 3500 and 4000.... if I'm "having fun" ... redline (6800)

I rarely shift above 3500... I just cant waste gas right now... it needs to go back down a little more and I will redline it through every gear! I need bio-gas not diesel!
Hey now we are talking reality! Gas at my local Costco hot an all time low a few weeks ago at $2.17 per gallon. The fundamentals of oil going down in price do not exist. Gas WILL go back up to $3 a gallon and beyond. I have a Auto 93 Civic LX so shift happen below 3500 most of the time.

Just drove a standard for the first time today (test driving the civic I plan on buying). The majority of the time I was shifting around 2k-2.5k.
