Default Whats a better deal?

I been looking around to replace my 95 civic lx and came across 2 that I caught my attention. Wondering what you guys thought would be a better buy.

2006 EX
manual
39K miles
asking $11,900

or

2002 SI hatchback
48,900 miles
asking $11,995

I'm guessing this is alittle on the high side for a 2002 huh? The dealer says make them an offer.

Thanks

Personally, I'd say the '02 is the better buy from a performance aspect. It has a k20a3 (compared to the '06 EX's R18a1), and you can actually bolt a close-ratio 6-speed from an RSX-S right up to the engine, not to mention parts between the a3 and k20a2 (the RSX-S engine) are interchangeable. However, $12k is pretty steep for an EP3; the price should be right around $10k.

However, from a practical standpoint, the '06 would be the better choice being newer, having fewer miles, and being more fuel efficient.

If I were to get the 02 I wouldn't be altering it to that point. Well I should say I wouldn't be able to myself! But as is....is it a pretty good car/year/engine?

Does the price for the 06 sound about right?

I think you should talk the price down and get the EP3

The '06 price sounds about right, especially given the mileage on it.

As far as the '02, the k20a3 isn't a bad engine by any means. I believe it produces something like 160bhp and 140ft*lbs of torque, and it has plenty of potential. Swapping to a k20a2 head would free up a good bit of power, too.

Personally, I say try to talk them down to between $10k and $11k and buy the '02.

Ok I think thats what I'll do. See if I can get the price down some. It's been on the market for almost a month now. They might be getting antsy to sell it.
Thanks for the advice guys!

idk where u live man, but those hatch cars are rare in alabama. if u ever need body panels or anything like that, u might be paying a premium. if it were me, i'd rock the 06. fewer miles, newer model, and maybe since its not performance oriented, u wont feel the need to rail on it and tear it up. just sayin man...
