I just don't get it! - what's wrong here?
I wanna buy this car but I feel I'm getting duped.

go drive the car and check it out and take a mechanic with you there is probably something wrong with the car. but if there isn't then you just got lucky i got a 1999 civic 75000 for 5400 nothing wrong with it so there are deals out there you just got to look for them

could it be the hybrid's battery? i hear that's expensive to replace...and it is an 05...
The carfax did say they replaced the battery this May...but can't they just replace a hybrid battery with a regular one? I called the dealer and they said it was sent out to Honda service to get it replaced. Do I take their word for it?
Would replacing the hybrid battery with a regular one work? Is that what makes the car worth 3k less?

I would feel a little better dealing with a dealer. There are good deals out there for sure. Your best bet is to go there and ask ALOT of questions. Also like novice22 mentioned it certainly wouldnt hurt to bring a mechanic or somebody a bit more knowledgable with cars.
But I HIGHLY doubt replacig a hybrid battery with a regular one would work, I think its safe to say no.
I just bought my Civic for about 2,000 lower than every other one i checked out. Maybe because it was the end of the month when you looked at it? Your chances of a deal are higher at the end of the month.
