Default Hobo's 2000 DX side project

Does anyone remember the car I had before the gold Civic? It was a green 2000 DX sedan. When I got the gold one, the green one went to my little sister. Well, she's going to DC for awhile and her car was just sitting... so... I get to drive it while mine is in the shop.

This car has a bit of history though. I had this car for a month before I rear ended someone while driving in some bad rain. That was about 5 years ago. Bad memories...

It got rebuilt though.

My little sister has been driving it since then. Fast forward 5 years: It now has about 280K miles on it. Unfortunately it's in somewhat rough shape now.

To do list:

-Polish headlights (they're super hazy) - DONE
-Clean exterior (glad that's over with) - DONE
-Clean interior (ugh... save me! Starbucks spills everywhere...)
-Remove sticker from driver's window - DONE
-Unstick drivers air vent - DONE
-MAINTENANCE!
  • Top off brake fluid (has weak brakes) - DONE but might need pads
  • Add PS fluid (reservoir has an inch of fluid in it...) - DONE
  • Change oil (due in 200 miles)
  • Add coolant to the water in the radiator (I'll have to lecture her later...)
-DX to LX cluster swap (swapping the speedometer in the process) - DONE
-Fix the back seat release mechanism (Her car was broken into a few months ago while she was at school in Memphis. The thieves broke the rear seat release so it can only be halfway opened from the trunk.)
-De-rice. (I installed a green LED glow when I had it. She has hated it forever. Time to get rid of it.)

Yeah, it's not my car anymore. But I've got that modification bug, you know? The car has the potential to be better! Why not do it since I'm BORED and will have to drive it for like 3 weeks anyways? Doesn't hurt that she's fine with whatever I do to improve it.

How so? I have nothing but spare time lately, and I have all the parts in stock lol. I really have waaaay too many spare Honda parts, and too many bottles of this and that. The only thing I'm out of is PS leak stop.

[edit] It has a tach now. So glad. She complained about the lack of a tach since the beginning.

by the looks of it, you might be able to fix the hood fitment just by twisting down the little rubber stoppers until it sits flush.

Did you paint the trim on that? it looks nice, I thought all DX's came with the black trim.

Just wondering if you know whether honda power steering fluid is different from other cars? I just had a power steering leek, and I saw that walmart had regular power steering fluid w/stop leak included, and PS fluid for Honda/Acura. I got the latter, because I thought maybe there was something special to differentiate it from other fluids.

The hood fitment is awful. The core support was NOT welded in right. The only way to fix it is to modify the headlights themselves to line up, and there would still be that gap in the end. But, not my car, paint is horrible anyways.

I didn't even know they made 4 dr DX's.

If you are bored, I would tinker with it, but not get too involved, especially if money is not being spent. The plans you have are fine IMO.

Nope, it actually does have the hood seal. The core support is too far forward, like half an inch or so.

Got the annoying sticker off the glass, cleaned the dash up with some armor all, removed the peeling tint from the passenger window. Slow progress.

Hopefully someone has realized that this thread is a lighthearted joke.
