Hey, at least I'm honest

And speaking of financially irresponsible, I might be spending $300 on a bumper this weekend. I found an '01 Cobra front bumper for sale for $330 shipped, I just hope it's still for sale this weekend when I have the money. If it is, I'm 100% definitely buying it. '99/'01 cobra bumper = sex.

For reference, '99 Cobra:

*edit: and I forgot to list the reason I'm excited about finding the bumper. Normally, '99/'01 cobra front bumpers go for $300+ before shipping. I don't know if it's coming with the fogs and bezels or not, but either way it's a helluva deal (even moreso if it does come with the fog lights).

Well considering it's an OEM bumper and (IMO) the best-looking bumper for the new-edge mustang, not to mention the '99/'01 bumper is incredibly hard to find, and the fact that even reproduction bumpers are almost impossible to find, I'd say it's a good deal. Like I said, they usually go for upwards of $300 before shipping, and that's just the bumper; no fogs or bezels.

Also, I figure if people spend how much on BYS and Airwalker bumpers for their civics, I'm entitled to spend $300 on a bada** mustang bumper

Trust me, I learned on my old civic that a job worth doing is worth doing right; do it right the first time and you won't be spending money later to fix it. I've wanted a '99/'01 cobra front bumper since I bought the car, and I know I'm going to keep wanting one... so if I settle on a different bumper and another '99/'01 cobra bumper comes up for sale for a good deal, I'll end up spending money on the first bumper and the money on the cobra bumper.

Besides, with a '99/'01 front bumper, I can buy a 2000 Cobra R front splitter and be able to put it on for cruising and spirited driving and take it off for DD duty.

And the "do it right the first time" mentality is why I've been doing more research than spending on the project. I could have a lot more done to the car right now, but the parts I'd have put on would be lower quality and I'd probably end up replacing them later on down the road anyway.

*edit #1: also, I just PM'd the guy to see if he'd hold the bumper for me if I gave him a $100 down-payment tonight... there's like 8 other people interested in it right now, so I'd like to still have a bumper to buy on friday when I get paid lol

*edit #2:F*CKING WIN!!!! He just PM'd me back saying he'd be willing to take $100 down and hold it until I have the rest of the money. Looks like I'm going to have a shiny black front bumper in a week or 2

And pics there shall be. I already cleared it with my service manager and the parts manager... I'm having it shipped to my dealership. I'm thinking the ladies in my apartment's office might hate me if they have to store a bumper half the day until I get home and pick it up lol

And no, I was planning on starting it this weekend, but since I'm buying the bumper I'm going to be literally broke until next week's paycheck. Then that paycheck and the following one are for Christmas presents, and the following week is rent. When I get some money I'll buy the fiberglassing supplies and start on it.

your spending $300 on fog lights? at least a bys has kevlar on it! and if the only reason you'd sell it to me is because you already mentioned it then i don't want it! finish your dang project! and insurance on a bike isn't expensive i paid like $150 for a year on my cbr and ive got 2 tickets on my record a 76 in a 40 and a careless

Yes, but you can't bolt a factory 2000 Cobra R front splitter to the oem polyurethane surrounding fog lights on a bys bumper (not that I'm going to spend $600+ on an OEM splitter when Steeda sells one for $370, but still. And before someone says something, imagine an ebay turbo, a garrett turbo, and a turbo that is exactly the same as the garrett made by a very well-known and quality business for 62% the cost of the garrett. Which one do you buy?)

Like I said, if you have the money, the car's yours. I loved my civic, I sold it, I got over it. The same will happen when I inevitably let this one go, too; they're just cars. You get a new one and you fall in love all over again.

And I was paying ~$600/yr for liability on my F4i, no tickets. Being unmarried and under 25 sucks insurance-wise =/

*edit: and to technically finish my project, I'll have a fully built compound-boosted car running ~30psi of boost, 6-speed transmission, full cage, independent rear suspension, so on and so forth; the total cost was around $30k in mods. Obviously, that's never getting finished. Even my new "project" list is merely an extremely abbreviated version of the original project minus over half the power gains, and it's still going to cost ~$7k. I'd love to work on a car that's actually cheap to modify again lol
